Tips For Betting On Horses
One of America's favorite past times has always been betting on horses. One of the few forms of gambling that is widely accepted throughout the whole nation, there is serious potential for profit (and loss) when you are betting on horses. Many people are deterred from betting on horses simply because they do not know exactly how the betting process works, but in reality it is quite simple. The purpose of this article is to give the reader a clear understanding of the process, and also some tips on choosing a good horse. Each horse has it's own set of odds attached to it when you go to place your bets. 2 to 1 odds mean that if you win, you will receive twice the money you bet on the horse before the race began. There are also 10 to 1 odds, 50 to 1, and sometimes even 100 to 1 odds. Obviously you can win the most money betting on horses with a 100 to 1 odds of winning, but the reason the payout is so high is because it is unlikely that horse will win. You never lose more than you bet on a horse, but you have a higher chance of winning betting on horses that have 2 to 1 odds than horses with 100 to 1 odds. Depending on the track you go to, there may even be fractional betting but most people do not choose to bet that way. Actually, betting on horses is very fun, but there are a few things you need to think about before you bet. If you really want to get good odds, get up to speed on all the horses in the race that you can. Search up past races the horse you are researching has won or lost, and cross reference the data with the other horses in the race. When you are in it for fun, this type of research is not so important. However, if you are betting on horses for money, you need to get as much information as possible. Sometimes the odds given may not accurately represent the horses actual chances, and it is important to exploit this whenever you can when betting on horses. If you are new, the safest route is usually to place a bet on a horse with 2 to 1 odds, this is probably the smartest way to go when your betting on horses. Even if you can't make it to the track, don't despair, you can bet on horses online thanks to the Internet. One of the most reputable places to place bets online is www.sportsbook.com. They are well known as a place that will pay out promptly whether you are betting on sports or betting on horses. There are many other places you can place bets online as well, just make sure to make sure they have good reviews. Unfortunately, there are some places that allow you to bet on horses online that are not always fair, so take the greatest care choosing a website to bet on.

Betting on horse racing can be more exciting than just watching
Horse racing has been performed for many centuries and dates back to the Roman times with chariot racing. Horse racetracks were first built in the United States in 1863 in New York. Thoroughbred racing is one of the most popular types of in the world. Harness racing is another type and is more popular in Canada and Europe while quarter racing is most popular in Florida and western United States. Countless hours by many people are spent betting on horses, handicapping the races and keeping records. Betting on horse racing makes watching the race itself more exciting. The betting methods and angles are always changing and no two races are ever similar. There are thousands of methods to use when betting on horse racing and each horse system approaches the racing in a different way. If betting on horse racing is only for entertainment, it is best to keep the bet small; there is no need to bet bigger when horse races are so hard to predict. There are three different types of bets: to win, to place and to show. To win means betting on a horse to come in first. To show means to bet that a horse places first, second or third. To place means to bet that a horse places first or second. Betting on a horse to win is the riskiest, but often has the higher rewards. The larger the risk, the larger the reward, so the payoff will be more when betting on a horse to win or place rather than to show. Going and watching horse races is exciting for everyone, but betting on horse racing brings more excitement. When betting on one of the bigger horse races, betting should be placed on a higher price horse than on a favorite horse. The odds of winning when betting on horse racing can be challenging, but if a risk is taken, wining can be sometimes be big. Knowing the odds of betting on horse racing will help to win. While betting on horse racing, the key is past performances. They can tell everything that is needed to know about a horse and how it races. Past races will also show many important things about the horses that can give someone an edge against others who are betting on horse racing. The best choice for a horse is one that has recently run. Even if there is a horse with very good form, if it has not raced in some time, there is a chance it may not run very well during the race due to poor condition. It is important to remember that betting on horse racing is not ‘sure thing’ even if it appears to be right.

Pooping or Running? Which determines the winner?
I will never forget the most educational day I had in my horse racing betting career. I went to the track with my grandmother.....yes, I know, it's kinda lame. But, it was her 75 th birthday and that's what she wanted to do with and all her grandkids, a little horse racing betting. Yep, that's my granny! Anyway, we got to the track, and began our horse racing betting. You could hear the groans and cheers from my entire family as each race finished and we checked our tickets. As I looked around, I began to notice granny cheering a lot more than she was groaning. I knew she loved the horses, I knew she was quite experienced at horse racing betting, but at 75, I expected she would have slipped a little. But, it didn't seem that way, in the admittedly unscientific poll I was taking by looking around, it seemed that granny was cleaning up! So, I began to watch her, I tried to look at her notes, I attempted to decipher the little squiggles she was drawing on her racing form. Over the next hour or so, I watched her and it wasn't long til she noticed my attention. "Granny, I know you know a little bit about horse racing betting. You are obviously winning a lot more than I am. What's your secret?" That is when granny began to blush. Now, my granny is a southern lady, she doesn't use foul language, she has excellent manners, she put the belle in southern belle. Knowing that about her, you will be as surprised as I was to hear her secret. She looked around, put her hand over her mouth and whispered, " I watch the horses and whenever a horse takes a poop before the race - I place my bet!"

Horse Racing, the Ageless Sport
Horse racing makes me think of the Lone Ranger and his saying, “Hi-yo, Silver, away!”, as he rode his famous horse, Silver, galloping into the sunset. There are many famous horses in television and the movies. But many more are known for the speed and stamina shown in winning championships in the ageless sport of horse racing. Horse racing has been a popular sports event for centuries, often referred to as “the sport of kings”. Today there are four types of horse races. They are distinguished by the type of horse, distance, and terrain of the race track. These are the four types: 1) Thoroughbred Horse Racing Thoroughbred horses run on a flat, oval shaped dirt track, ¾-mile in length. 2) Quarter Horse Racing Quarter horses run on a flat, straight course at great speed over short distances ranging from 220-660 yards. 3) Harness Horse Racing Horses, called trotters, pull a driver seated in a sulky (light 2-wheeled vehicle), around an oval-shaped dirt track, usually a mile in length. 4) Steeplechase Horse Racing Many horses are half breeds, a term loosely applied to any horse that is not a thoroughbred. The steeplechase involves jumping a variety of obstacles. The course covers a distance of 4-½ miles, with 30 obstacles. The names of the race horses can be amusing. A unique name is required to register a horse in any race. Many owners take pride in coming up with clever names. For others, it would be interesting to know the story behind the name. Smile and take a look at these names: Tapping Toes, Flashy Dancer, Aggravated Battery, Catch a Thrill, and Sermon of Love. It is a spectacular sight to see the beautiful, gallant, well-bred horses galloping to the “finish line”. The race horses are magnificent! So enjoy, good luck, and “happy trails to you”.
